The emergence of pandemics (avian and swine flu and catarrhal fever) are risks for both human and animal health which are not contained by
the borders of individual Member States.
The free movement of Europeans calls for the implementation of healthcareprocedures: Patient mobility and safety, access to medication.
Prevention of “high risk” lifestyles: Tobacco, alcohol, obesity, etc. Research coordination. The activities of the European Union in the healthcare field are far from
